Registration is Open!!!!

It's
HERE! The time we have all been waiting for... Registration is open for everyone to sign up for summer 2021!

Also don't miss our awesome new registration video!!!!

We know camp will look different this up coming summer but we are very excited to try out our 3 week system. We have found that camps that offer longer term programming allow for campers to bond with their counselors and other campers in a deeper way. After this past year of less social interaction due to camps, school and other activities being closed, we want to ensure a program that can help make up for some of that lost time. We believe having 3 weeks to really build cabin unity and allow campers to investigate their independence could be imperative to that individual growth, and what better way to do that than surrounded by their friends in a place they love or will learn to love!

Also this gives us the opportunity to create a community of campers with the restrictions currently in place such as social distancing and masks for 10 to 14 days, monitor the health of the group, and with these protocols in place, end camp removing or loosening up on the restrictions for the last week. We feel we can give our campers a quality program even with so many unknowns.

We encourage you to reach out if you are feeling hesitant or will not be sending a child to camp this summer as well. We would love any feedback you have for us and understand that this is a big decision. We want to work with you, to find what will be the best for both your Camper and Camp Foley.

10 Reasons You Should Send Your Kids to Camp Foley (Pt. 2)

Registration is open for 2020! Have you registered yet? If yes, awesome - we can't wait to see you next summer. If no, what are you waiting for?! Perhaps the next 5 reasons of our 2-blog series "10 Reasons You Should Send You Kids to Camp Foley" will convince you! These blogs were written by 2019 Marketing and Communications Intern, Elliott Newman.

The final 5 reasons!

6. College Prep.
I attended Camp Foley for 8 years, going 1-month for 6 of those years. By the time I was 16 I had spent more time away from home than almost all of my peers at High School. As college came around, I was more than prepared to be away from my parents for a semester (with breaks). Many of my classmates did not have the initial emotional stability to manage on their own away that long from their families. I greatly attribute my ability to deal with homesickness to my summers spent at Foley.

7. Spirituality & Mindfulness.
Camp Foley provides a Catholic Mass service and Non-Denominational service every Saturday of each session. Catholic mass is a traditional Mass service that usually takes place at Foley’s wonderful stone Chapel. Foley’s Non-denominational service coincides with Mass. Each Non-Denom, as we call it, has a theme. These include, but are not limited to, environmental awareness, passion, and responsibility. Whether religious or not, all campers receive the opportunity to expand upon their spirituality and mindfulness throughout their time at Foley.

8. Creativity.
Camp prides itself on its athletic activities, projectile based activities and water activities, but we also have several awesome activities for those looking to further their creativity. I'll highlight a few.
  • Crafts- Crafts has been at Foley for a very long time. This class allows camper to use arts &
crafts item to make a plethora of items.
    • T-Shirts
    • Duct Tape Art
    • Paper Mache masks
    • Paintings
  • Shop- One of Foley campers’ favorite activities is Shop (woodshop)! Those who sign up get to try out our different tools to build cool woodwork projects.
    • Table Saw
    • Jig Saw
    • Handsaw
    • Drill Press
    • Sanding utensils
  • Photography- Campers will use cameras to take photos of people at activities or anything they’re interested in taking photos of.
  • Video Creativity- Groups will work together to come up with short films to be shown to everyone at camp at the end of the session. Some past videos included Music Videos, Movie Trailers, and even videos where campers pretended to be counselors!
  • Guitar & Drums- Those who want to explore music interests can sign up to learn how to play an instrument! This is a very relaxing activity.
  • Talent Show- Founder’s Day is a day each session where we celebrate Foley’s history and traditions. On this day we include a talent show in the festivities. This provides an opportunity for campers to showcase their many creative talents to all of camp!
9. Nature/Environmental Awareness.
One of the most important topics for people to understand and learn about at an early age is environmental awareness and how their actions impact the surrounding environment. We aim to not waste food at meals. Leftover produce waste will go into a compost pile. Leftovers will be used at future meals or put into the salad bar. Anything that can be reused, will be. Riflery target paper, scrap wood from the woodshop, cardboard, etc. Foley inspires campers to throw away litter and be kind to the beautiful Northern Minnesota area Foley is a part of.

10. Lasting Memories.
At the end of every session Marie tells us an old Native American tale about the significance of
memories. The one thing that will never disappear from a camper’s experience is the memories that they make at summer camp. I personally look forward to the day I get to tell future generations about the wonderful memories I had with my time at summer camp, and hope others do too!

The Perk of Early Registration

We have had an amazing start to early registration! Many returning families have signed up again for our Historic 95th Summer in 2019. In addition, we have had many new families register and we are pumped to start our partnership with them in the growth and development of their campers. The pace of registration has us excited about next summer as we are planning for one of the best years to date.

With early registration ending in a little over a week we wanted to highlight one of the biggest perks about registering early. Yes, the reduced rate is awesome for parents and budgeting, but from the camper's perspective one of the best reasons to register early is the perk they get in camper choice.

Specifically, every camper who is registered before the early registration deadline will be given a choice of an extra activity during the session they attend! These extra activity times usually take place during the morning, and many choose the Early Morning Ski option. But there are a handful of activity choices and our campers love this perk. It creates a special memory for them and helps make their camp experience unique and enjoyable. Many campers who registered early last year told us it was because of this perk!

It's a win/win for parents and campers! Click the links below to register today or see the Dates and Rates for our Historic 95th Summer in 2019!
